I intentionally reintroduce the irregularities that commercial ceramics have spent centuries eliminating
color and pattern and the knots are selected to complement the size and shape of the stone
with layers of dark and pale textured glazes
The pieces are then fired without a glaze to reveal the soft porcelain surface
these pieces bear gentle impressions from the artist's fingertips and have a subtle surface - unpolished and textured
Bowl II url-jochen-holz I intentionally reintroduce the irregularities"Most people used the wet drying technique for decorative lacquer objects, and no other drying technique was really developed for practical usage. I developed a special lacquer heat curing technique and Ive therefore found the most natural way to glaze wooden tableware with lacquer that has the same usability as ceramic ware today."
