Don Juan de Segundo designed several mouthpieces and described and illustrated them in "A Treatise on the Bitting of Horses", part of Benjamin Latchford's 1885 book, "The Loriner". One cheek of the bit is stamped "Champion & Wilton" and the other "Oxford St. W.". The port is stamped
