In a crutch, perhaps, you may chip away at it slowly or leave it untouched until you need the lifelink or token generation effect
Granted, setting yourself back 2 lands can be a steep price in the early game, but if youre clearing out a bunch of enemy mana rocks like Sol Ring and Mana Crypt, that can easily be a price worth paying to stop early explosive plays from your opponents
